Helena Anto

Helena Anto is a fifty-two-year-old married woman with seven children. Three of her children are males and four are females. She says three of her children are in the senior high school while the rest are in the junior high and the primary school. Helena lives with her family in a house in Berekum in the Brong Ahafo region. Berekum is a busy business centre about twenty-five minutes drive from Sunyani, the regional capital. Helena’s husband owns a store in which he sells cement and other building materials.

Helena deals in all kinds of fuel – firewood, charcoal, etc., to help support her husband financially. She says she procures the firewood and the charcoal from the nearby villages and sells them in the local market square. Helena says she has been in business for six years. She wants a loan to increase her working capital so she can procure fuel in bulk. She hopes to help her husband improve their standard of living.
