Kibalama Gorreti Group

Gorreti Kibalama is 50 years of age and married with six children. She rents a four-room house together with her family. She also cares for additional family members. Gorreti has three meals a day and her greatest expense is school tuition for her children.

She is a tailor in a shop that she rents in town. She works seven a days a week and she normally receives about two customers a day. Most of her customers are women. She has done this work for over 12 years now. The challenge she faces in her business is that her customers come seasonally, mainly during festive seasons.

Gorreti has worked MCDT for five years now and chose MCDT because it was lending money to the poor. She hopes to use the loan to buy materials for sale and she also wants to expand her business.

About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
