Susana Obeng

Susana Obeng is thirty-eight years old. She is married and has given birth to five children, a son and four daughters. According to Susana, two of her children are in junior high school while the rest are in primary school. She says her husband is a cocoa/palm nut farmer. She lives with the family in a house at a small town called Simpa, a farming community which is a few kilometers from Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana.

Susana enjoys petty trading very much. She runs a provision store to help her husband take of the family. She procures her goods from nearby markets at wholesale prices. She says her shop is situated at the local market square. Susana has been in business for thirteen years. It has been her desire to make savings enough to pay for her children to have the best education. She wants a loan to procure provisions in bulk so she can maximize her profit.
