The group "Valle del Sol" (Valley of the Sun) is represented by Mrs. Eufronia and is composed of 12 members, some of whom make a living performing activities like the sale of cosmetics, liquor, telephone cards, and fast food. In the business environment that they work in there is a lot of competition., especially in this time of financial crisis. In order to persevere, they must avoid the obstacles and work hard to retain the income of their businesses, which is the main source of income that supports their families. The loan will be used to purchase ingredients and materials so that the members will be able to increase their income and improve their quality of life. Despite the fact that this is the first time that the group receives financing the majority of the members have already participated in similar groups and they were able to prove that they are responsible and trustworthy with repaying loans.

Update on your loan to Valle del Sol in Bolivia

Entrepreneur: Valle Del Sol Group
Location: Location Undisclosed, Bolivia

Today, I had an opportunity to attend a Valle del Sol group meeting and talk to a couple of these enterprising women. All of the women were responsible with the loan.

Aida has a store in which she sells four different types of sandwiches and all types of soft drinks. A while back, a thief broke into her store about stole about twenty plastic chairs, which hit her business hard. With this loan, she bought some dark blue plastic chairs to replace the stolen ones. “They are expensive,” she explained, “About 65 bolivianos (9 dollars) each.” She hopes to be able to buy the rest of the missing chairs with a future loan since some of the old chairs she is using for the time being do not match the new ones. The loan has helped her get her business back on its feet, since if customers enter and there is nowhere to sit, they do not want to buy from her. “We would have been despairing without this loan,” she explains. “Thank you.” Aida has a son studying civil engineering and a daughter that just graduated from high school and would like to study computer engineering.

Mercedes sell cosmetics, clothing, and toys on foot and works as a receptionist in a hostel. She used her loan to buy more products to sell and her business has grown. She has a son that is eighteen years old and about to start his one year required military school training, and her increased profits are making it easier for her to pay for that. “Little by little, I want to keep growing,” she told me.

Since the members were streaming in and out of the meeting, this is just a picture of Aida cooking in her store adjoining her house.

If these entrepreneurs interested you, consider lending to more AgroCapital clients here.
