Sam Sarin, 65, is a widow who lives with her daughter in the Bati district, Takeo province. She and her daughter are weavers who work from their home and make US$7 of profit every day. They use silk to weave clothes and scarves and then sell them in the Phnom Penh market. The silk dress is a Khmer traditional dress and people wear it during the Water Festival, P’chum Ben and on Khmer New Year. It takes around 7-10 days to complete each dress and its price is expensive. Most of the people prefer handmade dresses over machine made. Mrs. Sam Sarin is asking for a loan to purchase supplies of silk to weave more clothes.
