The group was formed during early meetings at the home of Mrs. Ninfa Vazquez, who learned about the idea from a cousin who is involved with another group. With this information, the women began to organize themselves and soon afterward, they had the initial fifteen members that are necessary to form a group.

Mrs. Ada Aguero, president of the group, acknowledges that during the committee's first cycles, it was somewhat difficult for the group to come to a consensus as there were always many disparate opinions. Nevertheless, as time passed, the group was strengthened and today it is characterized by harmony and a mutual respect among all the members. The members believe that there is a simple factor that allows a committee to be successful: each member should stay committed to the objectives they set, individually and as a member of the group.
