Alima Amadu

Alima Amadu started her local restaurant ten years ago in Bawaleshie, a suburb of Accra, where she lives. Since then, she has become one of the most popular food vendors in her neighborhood. She is now 42 years old, married and mother with six children. She serves many kinds of local dishes, like fufu, rice balls, and banku, among others. Fufu is prepared from pounded cassava and plantain and taken with soup. Banku is prepared from milled maize grain and taken with hot pepper or soup.

Alima wants to use this loan to buy more supplies, like bags of maize, baskets of cassava, plantain, meat, fish, and firewood. She also hopes to use part of the proceeds to finance her children who are in school. She belongs to a group called Fear Not. She hopes to receive GH¢1000 to make her business grow by restocking her inventory.
