Mr. Tang Pao Village Bank Group

14 people living in Trapang Kda village in Kampong Chhnang province and comprise this village bank loan. They will use the loan for a variety of purposes.

Mr. Tang Pao is a 31 year-old village bank president. He is a farmer who owns a piece of land to cultivate rice. His wife, Mrs. Sorn Sory, is a firewood seller. Even though they work hard, they still do not earn enough income to support their household. In order to improve their living conditions, Mr. Tang Pao has decided to ask for a loan so that he may purchase a piglet to start a breeding pigs business. He is the father of three children, two of whom are enrolled in the local school while the youngest one is too young to work or study.

12 members in this group loans are end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. They are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
