This is one of the sweetest fruits in Samoa, and most people from overseas like it. These pineapples, when they are ripe, are sold at the market, and people usually use them for salads.
As you can see in the picture, Maria plants these pineapples in rows so they are easy to collect when they are ripe.
Instead of planting taro and taamu beside the house, Maria prefers to grow pineapples, which can be sold or even used by the family when it’s needed.
