San Juan de Orcasitas Bank has started its third cycle with eighteen partners, all of whom are from the community in the area of San Juan de Orcasitas – thirty minutes form the city Ayacucho.

The partners are involved in different businesses, like selling food, cosmetics, sweets, drinks, replacement auto parts, groceries, and making bricks.

In Agustina’s case, she is married, forty-two years old, and has a son. Agustina sells food, and beverages at a playground called Orcasitas Valley, and also at the local pool and a sports field. Agustina also buys and sells tara, a product from a kind of tree in Perú.

While Cirila is married, thirty-nine years old, and the mother of three children, she purchases tara from different communities and then sells it between her suppliers. In addition, Cirila buys prickly pear when it is in season and transports it to Lima to sell it.

The partners need loans of different sizes, like S/.300, S/.450, S/.600, S/.900, and totaling at S/.9,450 worth of loans from the communal bank.

Their loans will be used to buy prickly pears, tara, guinea pigs, chickens, young pigs, sugar, rice, noodles, and oil, and to pay employees.

These small businesspeople dream of improving their businesses, having their own financial resource, raising their children with a good education, and working to stay afloat.
