Mrs.Djeneba Traoré is 47 years old. She is the mother of three (3) children and lives in a monogamous family with her husband and children. Djeneba is located in the Guegneka neighborhood of the city of Fana, prefecture of Dioila, in the region of Kouilikoro, Republic of Mali.

Mrs.Djeneba Traoré did not have the opportunity to attend school due to reasons of priority, within her family. She assisted her mother in domestic and business activities. After 13 years of assisting her mother, she decided to set up her own business selling smoked fish (an activity she learned from her mother-in-law) and selling honey. She set herself up in the large open hanger at the central market in Fana.

Facing increased competition and to secure additional financial resources, she decided to join the micro-finance program at Soro Yiriwaso. After completing eight group loans, with a neighborhood loan group, she is now on her fourth individual loan. All these loans have been duly repaid. With this loan she wants to buy; 400 kg of smoked fish to be purchased at Mopti and resold in Fana for cash or credit. She will sell in either wholesale or retail lots, to a clientele of both men and women.

When she travels to Mopti to replenish her provisions, she buys honey in Fana to be resold for cash to the wholesales in Mopti. This allows her to carry less cash during the trip and also diversifies her business activity to earn additional profit. She expects to realize a monthly profit of 40,000 CFA which she will use to assist her husband.
