In 2005, that building was sold by the owner and Charles had to move out and look for another place to do business. Unfortunately, his new place was located in an area where he was not known. So, he had to start building up a new customer base. As Charles’ goods did not match the needs he saw in that area, he changed his business and became a salted fish seller.
Charles is now well-known and liked in this new area. He has been with Hope DRCongo since 2007. Since that time, his business has prospered, and the loans he has received have helped him rent a well-located business place. He makes about US$ 80 in profit each week. His working capital is US$ 600.
Charles is 42 years old, married, and the father of four children, aged between 1 and 17 of whom two go to school. His ambition is to become a salted fish wholesaler in his new area.
