The women of the group Sabougnouma are married mothers 25 to 55 years old who have four children on average. They live in traditional extended families in the Ganabougou district of Yanfolila (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

These women have been partners of Soro Yiriwaso for two years and are on their fourth solidarity loan after having correctly repaid the three preceding ones. With this new loan, the women buy each week: one sack of big millet (sorghum), some leavening, firewood, and other supplies for making the local beer. The women help one another in this work, which demands a sizable quantity of firewood, water, and a lot of attention, so as to produce a quality beverage.

They each earn 10,000 francs CFA in selling the beverage each week. The biggest sales are made on market days, during which villagers from surrounding areas abound. This business enables the women of the group to realize an average monthly profit margin of 40,000 francs allowing them to make loan payments and to address certain household needs (health, education, clothing… etc.).

PREMIER ET DERNIER FEED BACK

Entrepreneur: Sabougnouma Group
Location: Yanfolila, Mali
