Monique Semilinko, 41, was able to attend school up to high school. She has 3 children, Florel, Asriel et Joresee, all three of whom are enrolled in school. For eight years, she has been running a small restaurant. She also sells drinks. In the morning, she sells porridge, a local dish made from corn (maize), brewed drinks, water, and cooked rice. Presently, she is in a period of slowing sales, but in future, she would like to sell evenings as well. The loan that she is requesting is through Kiva field partner, Alidé.

The meaning of Alidé in the local language of Benin, Fon, is "another path always exists for the most poor". Benin is a small country in West Africa beside Nigeria, where the GNP per capita is US$ 1,500. Alidé offers special 0% interest loans to very vulnerable clients and it is in a group which will soon be beginning a micro health insurance program.

SEMILINKO a 41 ans.
