Adwoa Nyamekye

Adwoa Nyamekye is forty-five years old. She is married and has given birth to eight children: three females and five males. Five of her children are currently in junior high and primary schools. The grown ups have completed and some are learning trades while others are also working. Adwoa’s husband operates a drinking bar in the locality in which they stay.

She lives with her husband and some of her children in a rented apartment in a small town near Offinso in the Ashanti Region. It is a farming as well as a commercial community in Ghana. Industrious as she is, Adwoa trades to support her husband in taking care of the family. She trades in maize. She buys bags of maize from farmers in the surrounding villages and sells at affordable prices to retailers. She also sells at the local market, especially to the food vendors. Adwoa has been in business for fifteen years. She wants a loan to buy maize in large quantities so she can distribute to more customers.
