Eseese is 29-years old. She has seven children and she lives in the small village of Sataoa. She is very happy about her small fishing business that she runs with her husband. Eseese’s husband does most of the fishing in the daytime when the tide is low. Eseese is responsible for selling the fish; she sells fish in front of their house under the shade of a large tree. Many people pass by, and on a good day, Eseese is able to bring in about ST 200 (USD 80). This is the sole income source for her and her large family. An initial loan from SPBD helped her purchase time-saving equipment which has improved their fishing yield, and she is anxious to secure more loan funds to invest further in her business.

Journal for Eseese Sakalia

Entrepreneur: Eseese Sakalia
Location: Sataoa, Samoa

Eseese is one of the members who applied for a loan from Sataoa C center. Her only family income is from the sea, where her husband goes fishing from Monday to Saturday. He is a good fisherman but the problem was, he lacked fishing gears to use. Then Eseese joined her village center and applied for a loan, where it was all used to re-new her husbands’ fishing gears and fishing equipments. She makes good money from it, and could be able to cover up her family expenses, childrens education and her weekly loan repayments. Eseese appreciates the help she received from the program.
