Esperanza is married with six children, although only the youngest, who is 15, lives at home, and the rest are already married. She and her husband make and sell block ice in Saltillo, Coahuila, where they are originally from. They started this business in order to provide for and educate their children. They started by making the blocks, and after eight years, they were able to buy a machine to make the ice flakes and expand the business. Her husband has an adapted motorcycle that is used for the sales of icecones in parks and outside schools.
