This is the case for Vidalina, who is in a common law marriage. She is 33 years old and has two children. Vidalina sells groceries for profit in different stores. She gets her products in the city of Lima. Vidalina has a store in Lima, a business that is run by her husband. Vidalina needs a loan of 900 soles that she would invest in the purchase of rice.
On the other side, Ursula is a widow. She is 69 years old and has 8 children. Ursula makes pretty crafts in textiles like table runners. She does this work with the help of one of her children, who does sales in the market. Also, Ursula has a small store in her home. Ursula needs a loan of 1050 soles that she would invest in the purchase of sugar, rice, and oil.

While Martina is single, she is 39 years old and she lives with her parents. Martina travels to different markets of the region where she buys cereal grains and cheese. Also, Martina works as an assistant for a dental consultant.
The members need different amounts of loans like 300 soles, 600 soles, 900 soles, 1050 soles to make a total of 10,200 soles in loans from the community bank.

The dreams of the members are to have a car, for their children to improve their lives, to provide a good education for their children, to build a home and to have a stable business.

Update from Peru on your loan!

Entrepreneur: Crecer Group
Location: Ayacucho, Peru

The bank Crecer (“To Grow”) began its second cycle with 18 members. The members have different businesses, such as the sale of general groceries, crafts, cereal grains, sweets, wool, fruit, vegetables, and food.

The members of Crecer Group have been doing well since receiving their loans, which were in different amounts ranging from 300 soles to 1050 soles, totalling 10,200 soles in all. A few of the members have updated us as to how the loans affected their own businesses and lives.

Martina, who was originally highlighted in the description of Crecer Group, used her loan to buy cereals, dry potatoes, cocoa, and more. Her business has been doing well, but she says that the money she was lent in this cycle was not enough for her to renovate and improve her home. She plans to borrow a larger amount in the next round to allow her business enough room to grow.

Isabel sells beer and her business has been doing well, particularly because it allowed her to order more beer and thus sell more. She has been slowly making financial gains. She looks forward to continually improving all aspects of her business.

Julia prepares and sells food. Her loan helped her to buy more products to work with at the outset, so that she could sell more. She says that beforehand, the money she had to place such orders was never enough. She looks forward to future loans and renovating her home. She says her favorite part of working with FINCA Peru was all the attention and advice they gave her to help her improve her business, beyond lending her money.

The members all made their payments in a timely fashion, and are all working toward their goals, which include funding their children's education, owning their own home, and saving for retirement.

FINCA Peru's Mission is to contribute to the empowerment of social and economically disadvantaged women in Peru.
