Abiba Mohammed

Abiba Mohammed is a 52 year old local restaurant operator. She is divorced and has seven children. At the moment Abiba is taking care of two children who are in school, as the rest are independent. Abiba lives at Abofour, a suburb of Offinso in the Ashanti region. She has lived there since she started her restaurant. Abiba divorced her husband when he refused to take care of his responsibilities.

Abiba prepares and sells local foods like Deihuo or what we popularly called Tuozafi (TZ). TZ is prepared from milled maize and powdered cassava. This food is known among the Muslim community in every part of Ghana. It has been embraced and accepted by many Ghanaians because of the taste and its delicacy. With her tasty meals, Abiba has attracted lots of customers in the area where she served. Therefore it has become necessary to employ additional hands to assist her in food delivering service. TZ is enjoyed with green leaves soup with meat and fish.

Abiba says prices of raw materials have gone up significantly and she needs the support of a loan to enable her to meet her production expenditures. With the loan, she wants to purchase more raw materials like baskets of cassava, maize, meat, fish, vegetables, and firewood to prepare her meals. She would be grateful for that assistance. Abiba belongs to a village bank called Fear Not. She also hope to receive GH¢500 to make business progress by restocking her inventory.
