Parveen Akhtar M. Ramzan Group

My name is Parveen Akhtar and I’m 30 years old. I am married and my husband, M. Ramzan, sells construction supplies. He has been doing this work for 10 years. I have passed the 12th standard (grade) in school and I run an academy where I teach students. I am also a mother of four children: three sons and one daughter. All of my children are getting their education from a school near our house. I’m applying for a loan to buy more construction supplies (cement and sand) to expand my husband’s business.

I’m a group leader of a group of women in my neighborhood. Bashiran baji wants a loan to buy wood to resell. Shahnaz baji wants a loan to buy scrap for her scrap business. Ghulam Fatima baji wants a loan to buy scissors and razors for her hair salon. Abida Kanwal baji wants a loan to buy medicine for her medical store.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
