Parveen baji is involved in a sewing business. She takes orders for clothes from her neighbors. Her daughter helps her in sewing clothes. She invests her income in a committee and plans to marry off her daughter when she becomes 18. She has successfully repaid her two loans from Asasah (a micro-finance institute inPakistan). Now she is applying again for a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle) for her husband so that he will be able to earn a good income.
She is the group leader for some more women from her locality. Shakra baji and Shazia baji each want a loan to buy groceries for their grocery shops. Nasreen baji and Bashiran baji and Khalida baji each want a loan to buy wood to sell.
This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
