The members of the Danaya group have an average age of 47 and live mostly in polygamous families with an average of 5 children in Markala (fourth administrative region of Mali). They met because of proximity or because of being in-laws in the Bamanan Kin neighborhood of Kirango and have been meeting in a traditional savings association for women for about 10 years.

This group of women sells various articles, from cereals to condiments, but they also take advantage of occasional opportunities to make some money (buying and selling articles as the occasion permits). They are on their 4th group loan after having correctly reimbursed 3 group (solidarity) loans. The loan will be used to buy 19 sacks of millet, 14 sacks of beans, 2 sacks of peanuts, 1 sack of hot peppers, 2 sacks of iodized salt, and 25 kgs of powdered baobab fruit and powdered okra.

They buy their cereals in Dougabougou and Séribala and their condiments at the market fair in Markala once a week. All these products are sold in the markets in Kirango and Diamarambougou for cash or on credit to a clientele essentially made up of women. Their discounted average profit is estimated at 41,250 F CFA which will be used to reimburse the Soro Yiriwaso loans and make deposits to their traditional savings association.

PREMIER ET DERNIER FEED BACK

Entrepreneur: Danaya Group
Location: Segou, Mali
