Julian Boateng

Julian Boateng is divorced and a mother with two children, who are currently in school. She is a 43 year old trader. She lives at Abuakwa, in the Ashanti region of Ghana, together with her family. Julian was formerly in the trading business with her husband until they divorced. She works very hard to take care of her children since her husband abandoned the family.

She trades in, lace and clothing materials. Lace material is very useful in room and office decorations. Clothing materials are often sewn and worn at almost every occasion, especially on Fridays. She started this business three years ago. Through hard work and commitment she saves part of her profit so that she has enough to take care of the kids.

For lack of adequate working capital, Julian buys only a few supplies of lace and clothing materials which she sells through hawking. She believes the loan will enable her to grow her business to a higher level. With the loan, she wants to purchase bulk supplies of lace materials and textiles. She hopes to use part of her profit to provide her children with aquality education.

Julian belongs to a group called ‘Regina’. She hope to receive a loan of GH¢500 to increase her business by restocking her inventory. This would enable her save more to support her home.
