My name is Amtul aziz and I’m 23 years old. I have lived in a mid-size city named Arifwala, Pakistan for the past 5 years. My husband's name is M. Hafiz, and he runs a grocery shop in the community. People are used to coming to him to buy groceries. He has a good reputation for dealing well with people. I have three sons, and all of them are enrolled in a school located near our house. As we all know, inflation is increasing day by day, and to survive I help my husband by making embroidered clothes. I charge $3 per dress. I use the amount I make to pay the school fees for my children. I have successfully repaid my first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now I’m applying for a loan to buy groceries to expand my husband’s grocery shop.

I’m a group leader of some more women. Sugran baji and Shahnaz baji each want a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Saba baji wants a loan to buy a donkey for her donkey cart. Iram baji wants a loan to buy a buffalo for her milk selling business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
