"My name is Rukhsana and I’m 39 years old and a married lady. I have been a citizen of a city called Arifwala, Pakistan for the past 5 years. I got an education up to 8th standard but my parents couldn't afford to let me study further. I married a man whose name is Sajjad Hussain and he is a farmer. He grows various flowers and when they become fully grown he sells them to flower shops and earns income. I help my husband in his flower-growing business. I have successfully repaid my two loans which I took from Asasah (a micro-finance institute in Pakistan). Now I’m applying for a loan again to buy fertilizer and other necessary thing to expand my husband’s plant-growing business."

Rukhsana is the group leader for some more women from her locality. Rukhsana baji and Kanizan baji and Farzana baji each want a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Tahira yasmeen baji wants a loan to buy cosmetics to re-sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
