Gulshan Fatima baji is a 41-year-old married woman who has lived in Multan, Pakistan for the past 15 years.

Multan is famous for its shrines. Every year, many people come to visit the shrines believing that their wishes will be fulfilled. Gulshan baji feels lucky to be a part of this city.

Her husband, M. Ejaz, has a business making biscuits. He has been in this business for 10 years. Gulshan baji helps her husband to make biscuits. They both work really hard, but their burden is lightened when they hear compliments from the people who eat their biscuits. Gulshan baji is applying for a loan to buy the ingredients that they use to make the biscuits.

Gulshan Fatima baji is the leader of a group of women in her locality. Razia baji and Shanaz baji each want a loan to buy bangles for their bangle business. Shabana baji wants a loan to buy clothes, colored thread and sketches to complete the dresses and displays in her boutique. Nasreen Begum baji and Haleema baji each want a loan to buy groceries for their grocery shops.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Note: "Baji," which means "older sister," is a term of respect for women in Pakistan.
