Dora Teye

Dora Naki is a mother of three children. She is fifty years old and has lost her husband some years ago. Dora lives with her children in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Koforidua is the capital of the region. It is a busy town, full of business activities. Dora says she has been the sole provider of all the family’s needs. All her three children are out of school and are working. Some are professional teachers.

Dora trades in textiles materials. She buys tie & dye textiles from the producers in Accra and treks to other towns to sell her products. Tie & dye is a local textile that is produced by tying either the white or colored mercerized cotton with raffia and then dying by immersion or sprinkling. The raffia prevents the dye from penetrating into the areas that have been tied. Dora has been in business for eight years. She wants a loan so that she can buy textiles on a larger scale and be able to trek to many places to sell.
