Saleem baji is a 53 year old widow and resides in a two room brick house with her four sons in a city Multan, Pakistan. Her husband died 5 years ago. Saleem baji and her husband were very close and when he past away she became very depressed. Her sons helped her through that very difficult time and she is very thankful. Her sons run a milk shop in the community. She has successfully repaid her past three loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan) and now she is applying for a loan to buy another buffalo to expand her sons’ milk selling business.

Saleem baji is a group leader of some more women of her locality. Nosheen baji is requesting a loan to buy bangles for her bangle selling business. Haseena baji is requesting a loan to buy a sewing machine to sew clothes. Khatoon begum baji is requesting a loan to buy goats for her animal selling business. Shahnaz baji is requesting a loan to buy cosmetics to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
