Sakina Baji is a 53-year-old widow who has resided in a city named Pakpattan, Pakistan. She owes a two-room brick house in this city and has been living with her family for the past 20 years. She is an uneducated lady. The reason she gives is that in her time people gave importance to skills than to education. "My husband died at age 45 of a heart attack. But he gave to me a very precious gift, my son, which helped me to lead a normal life or I would have totally lost my senses. My son has a business which he has run since before his father’s death. I am applying for a loan to expand my son’s poultry business by buying more chicks."

She is a group leader of some more women of her locality. Sugran Baji wants a loan to buy groceries for her grocery shop. Khursheed Baji wants a loan to buy a buffalo for her milk selling business. Allah Rakhi Baji wants a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Riaz Baji wants a loan to repair her auto-rickshaw. Parveen Baji and Sobia Baji both want loans to buy a donkey cart for loading.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
