Vilma

Vilma is married, and lives in a rented house with her husband and their three children. She hand knits various items of clothing, mainly sweaters and tablecloths for furniture. She generally knits all the items over the course of several weeks, and once they are ready takes them to her home town Huari, which is a 4-hour trip from where she currently resides. There she trades her garments for cheese, which she takes to the city to sell in the main marketplace. In this way Vilma obtains the financial wherewithal to support her home monetarily and is not simply sitting and waiting for the money her husband brings home. She is happy that she is also able to contribute to supporting her household. This is the fifth loan Vilma has received from MFP. All this time she has worked enthusiastically with her solidarity group and has learned the value of saving. She is additionally very prompt in making her loan payments. The money that she has requested is for buying various colors and types of yarn, which on average sells for 18 Peruvian soles per 1-kilogram skein. Vilma will buy approximately 30 skeins, the price of which varies according to the color and quality.

Vilma es casada, vive en una casa arrendada con su esposo y sus 3 hijos. Se dedica al tejido a mano de diferentes prendas de vestir, principalmente de chompas y tapetes para muebles, su sistema de trabajo consiste en tejer durante varias semanas todas las prendas, una vez listas las lleva a su tierra natal llamada Huari que está a 4 horas de viaje desde la ciudad donde actualmente ella radica. Allí hace un trueque de sus prendas con queso, el cual trae a la ciudad y lo vende en el mercado principal. De esta manera Vilma se abastece de los recursos económicos para aportar al sostenimiento de la economía de su hogar y no solamente sentarse a esperar que los ingresos vengan netamente de su esposo, por lo cual, ella se siente muy contenta por ser también la que sustenta su hogar. Esta es la quinta vez que tiene un préstamo con MFP, en todo este tiempo ha estado trabajando con mucho entusiasmo en su grupo solidario y aprendió el gran valor del ahorro, además es muy puntual en sus pagos. El dinero que solicita es para comprar variedad de colores y de calidades de lana, ésta está valorizada en un promedio de 18 soles la bolsa de un kilo, Vilma comprara alrededor de 30 bolsas, que de acuerdo al color y calidad varían su precio.
