journal update

Entrepreneur: Chab Khorn
Location: Phnom Penh City, Cambodia

Chab Khorn is an accomplished vegetable grower and seller in Phnom Penh. She sells her produce along with various grocery products for profit. Most farmers in Cambodia are subsistence farmers and sell there left over crops to middlemen to sell at the market. Her business works in such a way that she is on both ends. Before living in Phnom Penh she lived in the more rural province of Kampong Thom. Besides her two children still living in the family home she is also responsible for her two young nieces. Before borrowing from CREDIT she had once taken a loan through a neighbor at 5% interest rates. She found CREDIT to offer a more affordable situation and applied her new loan towards first of all freeing herself from some debt and then putting the rest into expanding her grocery store inventory. Her immediate profits have not increased and she has suffered minimal setbacks due to recent flooding in her district which hurt her shop. However she has managed to pay her loan back on time and hopes to be able to afford a second loan to give her business another push.
