Fudia (second from right) is the leader of this group. Fudia was born in Masongbo village, on the outskirts of Makeni, in northern Sierra Leone. She is fifty years of age, married with six children – all of whom are now grown-ups. Her husband is a businessman, too. Fudia sells firewood as her main business but also sells underwear and clothes for children. She has been in this business for over 20 years now. With this loan of Le 1,000,000, Fudia will buy a truck load of firewood which costs Le 400,000 and the remaining Le 600,000 she will invest in her other business.
So far, Fudia faces no major challenge worth noting in her business. With this loan and the profit it will generate for her, Fudia’s life will be a happy one.
