Shabana Ishtiaq Ahmad Group

Shabana baji is a 32 -year-old married lady and resides in a city called Borewala, Pakistan. She owns a two-room brick house and has been living in it for the past 20 years. She is an uneducated lady. She couldn’t attend school because the school was far away from her house and there were no conveyances to reach the school. She got married at the age of 17 to a person whose name is Ishtiaq Ahmad who is a driver, driving a rented auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle).

Shabana baji is the mother of three daughters. Her eldest daughter is in 9th standard. Another is in 4th standard. Her youngest daughter is in kindergarten. Shabana baji is a very responsible woman. She wishes to give her daughters everything she didn’t get in her life. She and Mr. Ishtiaq Ahmad decided to share the financial burden of supporting their family. So she takes the responsibility for her daughters' education and her husband takes the responsibility for household expenses. Shabana baji successfully repaid her first two loans from Asasah (a micro-finance institution in Pakistan). Now she is applying again for a loan to buy a new auto-rickshaw for her husband.

Shabana baji is the group leader for some more women from her locality. Zubaida Shoqat baji wants a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Sabri baji wants a loan to buy milk to re-sell. Samina Hanif baji wants a loan to buy vehicle wheels to re-sell. Nazia baji wants a loan to buy mobile phones for her mobile phone shop. Noreen baji wants a loan to repair her 32-seater bus called “Coaster”.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
