I am Farhat and I’m a 44-year-old married woman. I am a citizen of Kot Radha Kishan, which is 24 km from Kasur, Pakistan. I am an uneducated woman, but I do not hesitate to mention it. But I’ll mention that education is very essential for growing up in life. My husband is also not an educated person. He is a milk-seller with 5 years of experience.

I am the mother of five children: two sons and three daughters. My eldest son manufactures cloth on a power loom machine. My younger son runs a grocery shop. My eldest daughter makes thread and sells it in the market. The other two are getting education in a local school near the house. I help my elder daughter make thread. We both go to the market to sell it.

I successfully repaid my first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute in Pakistan). Now I am applying again for a loan to buy more milk to expand my husband’s milk selling business.

I am a group leader of a group of five women. Anayat baji wants a loan to buy iron and plastic for her scrap business. Shamshad baji wants a loan to buy utensils to resell. Suraiya baji wants a loan to by an electric sewing machine to make embroidered dresses. Nasreen baji wants a loan to buy rice and wheat to resell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Note: "Baji," which means "older sister," is a term of respect for women in Pakistan.
