Kaniz baji is a 58 year old lady and resides in a city named Pakpattan, Pakistan. Pakpattan city is famous for its saint places. Most people come to this city to visit the saint places for making wishes.

Kaniz baji is an uneducated woman, but she knows the value of education and knowledge. She is the mother of four children: three sons and one daughter. Her elder son completed his education up until the 8th standard, and started his own work of selling fruit salad. The next son to him is completing his 10th standard. Her youngest son is in kindergarten, and her daughter reads in the 5th standard. Kaniz baji’s husband’s name is M.Sharif who is a tailor by profession.

She wants to see her children well settled. For this purpose she does embroidery on dresses and sells in cloth shops. She works day and night to complete one dress. She sells each embroidered dress for $3.

She has successfully repaid her two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy another sewing machine to expand her husband’s tailoring business.

She is a group leader of a few more members from her locality. Sheema baji and Shahnaz baji each want a loan to buy wheat and rice to resell. Azra baji wants a loan to buy furniture (chairs and a mirror) for her salon. Tasleem baji wants a loan to buy wood for her furniture making business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
