Sonia Antonieta Talavera Sanchez

Sonia is 58 years old and studied until the fifth year of secondary school. She is married and a mother of six children; five of them are older and have families and one of her daughters still lives with her. She lives at Av. Circunvalación 192 of the neighborhood Mañazo in the district, province, and department of Puno.

She is one of the founding members of the community bank "Diana de Gales" in Puno. At the beginning with the first loan of 300 soles, she invested it in purchasing potatoes. Previously she was dedicated to the peeling of potatoes to deliver to the poultry stores and to the salchipapa (a Peruvian dish - french fries with sausage, condiments, and toppings) carts. This job made her very tired in her age so she changed activities.

Señora Sonia now sells salchipapas, noodles with chicken, and hamburgers in her home and at the same time manages her grocery store.

With this loan for 1500 soles, which will be repaid in four months, she will buy potatoes, sausages, chicken, and other ingredients for her business.

Her grand desire is to make her business grow and change to another one that is less work for her.

Sonia tiene 58 años de edad, estudió el quinto año de secundaria, es casada, madre de 6 hijos, 5 de ellos mayores y con familia y una hija que está con ella, y vive en la Av. Circunvalación 192 del Barrio Mañazo, distrito, provincia y departamento de Puno.

Es una de las socias fundadoras del Banco Comunal “Diana de Gales” en Puno. En un inicio, con el primer préstamo de S/. 300 lo invirtió en la compra de papa, anteriormente se dedicaba al pelado de papa para repartir a las pollerías y a los carritos salchipaperos. Este trabajo le resultaba muy cansado por su edad así que cambió de actividad.

La señora Sonia ahora vende salchipapas, tallarín con pollo, hamburguesas en su casa y al mismo tiempo atiende en su tienda de Abarrotes.

Con este préstamo de S/.1,500, el cual será cancelado en 4 cuotas, comprará papa, salchicha, pollo y otros insumos para su negocio.

Su gran deseo es hacer crecer su negocio y cambiar a otro que no le de mucho trabajo.
