Delia

Delia is 63 years old and lives with her husband and son. For six years she has raised guinea pigs [a Peruvian delicacy]. Because the animals reproduce and grow so rapidly, she can sell them at markets and also from her home. Delia enjoys raising these animals and watching them grow. She takes good care of them and feeds them well so that she can increase their value per pound and thereby increase her earnings. Feeding the guinea pigs is a very delicate matter, as if one does not take care to provide adequate feed they tend to die rapidly.

This is Delia's fifth loan with Kiva's partner MFP and she has not had problems with repayment. With this loan she will buy pure-bred guinea pigs to improve the quality of her animals and raise their value.

Delia tiene 63 años, vive con su esposo y su hijo. Se dedica a la crianza de cuyes desde hace 6 años, y gracias a que sus animalitos aumentan rápidamente puede venderlos en los mercados o atiende solo pedidos en su domicilio. Delia disfruta de criar estos animalitos y ver como aumentan día a día la motiva a seguir cuidándolos y alimentándolas de la mejor manera, así incrementan su valor por peso, y se logra obtener buenas ganancias. Sin embargo, es muy delicada la alimentación de estos cuyes, si no se tienes en debido cuidado en darles los pastos adecuados, tienden a morir rápidamente. Este es quinto préstamo con MFP, y hasta la fecha no tuvo problemas de pago. Con el dinero solicitado comprará cuyes de raza para mejorar la calidad de sus animales y darles un valor agregado.
