A village bank of 19 members is located in Ta Chour village in Takeo Province, Cambodia. The group members plan to use their portions of the loan for different purposes. Mrs. Veth Rong is the village bank president. She is a fish seller in the local market and she wants to expand her business. Therefore, she will use her portion of the loan to buy more fish for re-sale. Her husband, Mr. Toeun Norn, runs a motorbike taxi. Mrs. Veth Rong is 28 years old and the mother of four
children, two of whom are employed in the local school while the others are too young to work or study.

Two other members of this village bank loan have end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. They are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time.
