The Niño Emanuel (“Emmanuel Child”) Village Bank is located in the Ccachuaram community of Ascensión District, in the Huancavelica Department of central Peru. This community is located two kilometers from the city.

Ernestina Carrasco lives with her common-law husband and their five children. Her husband is a baker, and she helps him distribute bread to different stores in the morning, then she sells bread at the door of the bakery. She needs this loan to buy fruitcake for the Christmas season. Her dream is for her children to graduate with professional degrees and to be able to pay for a course so that her husband can learn to bake new products to be more competitive in the market.

Teodora Alfonso is divorced. She has been selling prepared meals at local markets ever since her husband left her. Teodora is in delicate health. She would like to buy more utensils for the meals that she sells to help expand her business. She wants her children to go to school and to graduate with professional degrees.

Antonia Requena is married and sells sweets near the entrance of a school in the Ascensión District. She got the idea for this business years ago, but her husband’s income wasn’t enough to start. With loans, she has been able to offer more products, and with the income she earns she helps pay for household expenses and the cost of schooling her children. Antonia is saving to pay for college for her son, who is finishing high school this year.
