Kotognogontala is a group composed of six women, all married, averaging four children and 37 years of age. They live in traditional extended families in the village of Bougoula Hameau, Sikasso Prefecture (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). United by ties of community and alliances, these women do various and varied work to earn an income. In addition to their main work, which is commerce in condiments, they sell smoked fish, cups, tubs, clothing for children, etc.

To satisfy their every-increasing customer base, the group members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution, with which they are on their fourth solidarity loan (group loan). All the preceding loans have been correctly repaid. This four loan will enable them to buy: 13 boxes of tomatoes, 10 sacks of néré seeds, 2 sacks of onions, 2 of eggplant, 1 of okra, 5 packets of Maggie bouillon cubes, 5 cans of tomato paste, etc.

Generally, they buy their merchandise at the grand marketplace of the city of Sikasso. Sales are made either at the local marketplace or out of homes, cash or credit accepted, to customers composed of village women.

Using this fourth loan, they each envision realizing an average profit of 15,000 francs CFA per month that will be used to support the businesses, to pay the loan interest, and to help cover the expenses of their respective families.
