Sardarn baji is the wife of M. Nawaz and resides in a city called Vehari in Pakistan. She has been living in this city for the past 50 years. She is the mother of three sons. Her elder son works in a poultry form and prepares chicken feed. The next is a delivery man and delivers fruits and vegetables from one place to another. Her youngest son drives an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle).

Sardaran baji’s husband runs a tea stall in the community. People come to him to take tea. He charges Pak. rupees 5 for each cup of tea. Sardarn baji makes embroidered dresses at home and sells them in clothing shops and earns profit. She is applying for a loan to buy material (tea and sugar and milk) for her husband’s tea shop.

She is joined in her loan group by several more members. Zahooran baji wants a loan to buy wood to re-sell. Sajida baji wants a loan to buy seasonal fruit for her fruit-selling business. Kaneez baji wants a loan to buy clothes to re-sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
