Mrs. Dominga Agan lives in a small nipa (palm leaf) house in Barangay Danao, one of the depressed coastal areas in the Municipality of Plaridel. She was married as young as 16 years old and had three kids. Two of her kids worked at the fishing ferryboat, while the other one was disabled by polio and died when he was still young. In 2007, her husband died and she received a full insurance benefit from Paglaum MPC.

Her main source of income is derived from the selling of fresh fish. Being a member in good standing, she always pays attention to her loans. She wants financial assistance amounting to PHP 13,000.00 for the purchase of a fishing net. Through this project, she dreams of obtaining additional income in order to repair her house and for their daily needs.

A better life for Dominga!!! Entrepreneur: Domingga Agan Location: Danao, Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, Philippines KIVA gave a way to make the life of Domingga Agan better. By funding the loan she requested, she was able to buy the additional fish net she needed. Domingga is serious in finding ways to improve their lives. The old fish net is still useful even if it was already worne out. She doesn't get the feeling of frustration if there are bad days as in the weather is bad and there is zero catch. Life must go on, she said. Its so amazing to see Domingga so brave to face the realities of life. But she is positive looking forward for life to get even better. All this time, she is motivated to work hard with her children on her side. Next steps after the fish net project would be for their house to be repaired. She can see it clearly as early as now that their house will be in perfect shape.
