Kaniz Fatima baji is 36 years old and a wife of Munir Ahmad who owns a video game shop. Children come to his shop to play video games. Kaniz baji has six children: three sons and three daughters. Her elder son runs a canteen where he sells home cooked food (chick peas and rice dish). The others are enrolled in a local school in her neighborhood. Kaniz baji prepares food for her son’s canteen on daily basis. She successfully repaid her two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy another video game for her husband’s shop.

She is joined in her loan group by a few more members. Allah Rakhi baji requests a loan to buy a buffalo for her milk-selling business. Bashiran baji requests a loan to buy bangles to resell. Mumtaz baji and Lal baji each request a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle).

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
