Kaneez Sher Ali Group

Kaneez baji is a wife of Sher Ali and a mother of seven children: five sons and two daughters. Kaneez baji and her husband can barely meet the household expenses, so they cannot afford to send their children to school. But they have a dream to give their children a good future. Kaneez baji performs her duties very efficiently. She does household work and runs a grocery shop. Kaneez baji’s husband has a livestock business. He buys livestock to resell. He has been in this business for the past 10 years. Kaneez baji successfully repaid her two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy animals (goats) for her husband and to use part of the loan amount to buy groceries for her grocery shop. As their profits increase, they hope to be able to invest in their children's future.

She is joined in her loan group by two more members. Ghafooran baji requests a loan to buy a donkey cart for loading. Suraiya baji requests a loan to buy woods for her wood selling business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
