Fozia M.hussain Group

Fozia baji is 26 years old and resides in Arifwala, Pakistan. She owns a two-room, brick house and has been living in it for the past 16 years. She completed eight years of education and is the mother of two sons, ages five and six. Fozia baji embroiders and sews clothes to help with the household expenses. Her husband, M. Hussain, runs a grocery shop near the house. She successfully repaid her two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy more groceries for her husband’s grocery shop.

She is joined in her loan group by four more members. Shahnaz bano baji requests a loan to repair her motorbikes for her motorbike rental business. Ishrat baji requests a loan to buy material (spices and cooking oil) for her food business. Haleema baji requests a loan to buy electric supplies (wires and switch boards) for her electric shop. Sardaran baji requests a loan to buy groceries for her grocery shop.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
