Somat Mut

Mut Somat lives with his mother and older sister. His mother is in poor health and is currently in the hospital. Mut Somat feels responsible for his family, and desires to provide a good income for them. Mut Somat used to be a motor taxi driver. However, he has been out of work for the last 10 days because his moto bike was stolen. During this time of unemployment he has been assisting his sister in her cake baking business. However, he would like to be able to earn additional income for the family; therefore, he is applying for a loan for $700 so that he may purchase a tuk tuk (a type of passenger taxi cart which is attached to a motor bike). The entire $700 will be spent on the tuk tuk. As a motor taxi driver Mut Somat earned about $5 a day. After consulting his brother-in-law, who is currently a tuk tuk driver, Mut Somat anticipates being able to earn about $12.50 a day with the new tuk tuk.  Mut Somat looks forward to being able to earn money for his family again, and even raise their standard of living with the increase in income that he anticipates from the tuk tuk.
