Adala Martin, a member of Katebo group in Buwama and a married man caring for his immediate family, is a fisherman at the landing site in Katebo. He owns a boat and a variety of other fishing materials including nets and hooks for use in his business. Martin is also a farmer with various plantations that are mostly in the care of his wife, children and helpers who are paid for their duties.

Martin has a plan to buy more boats to hire out to fellow fishermen, hoping to thereby increase revenue and savings. He is happy that with previous loans he was able to buy standard fishing nets and hooks that trap good quality fish, thus attracting a large number of customers. Martin is now requesting a loan in order to buy another fishing net for his business.

Journal Entrepreneur: Katebo Business Group1 Location: Buwama, Uganda Adala Martin is a fisherman on Lake Victoria in Katebo. He is also a farmer and these two businesses have helped in taking care of his family. With the farming, he is able to have enough food for his home consumption and the balance is sold off for an income. The farming business helps him even in cases when he can not go fishing because of the weather so that he does not become idle but has something constructive to do for the meantime.
