The six members of the group Sabougnouma are all married women who average 30 years of age and four children. The live in polygamous households in the village of Marka-Coungo (Region of Koulikoro, Republic of Mali). Linked by essentially commercial ties, most of the members of this group trade in condiments. In addition, they sometimes do catering.

In order to develop their commerce, these women decided to collaborate with the loan program of the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso four years ago. After having correctly repaid the first seven solidarity loans (group loans), they are on their eighth loan and intend to use it to buy: 250 kg of onions, 400 kg of kitchen salt, and 200 kg of tomato paste, all from different marketplaces in Bamako (capital of Mali).

The goods thus purchased are resold retail, cash or credit accepted, at the Marka-Coungo market to customers essentially composed of women. The group members each hope to realize an average profit of 30,000 francs CFA per month that they plan to use for covering the costs of health care and education for the children.
