Georgine Mpemba is a 52 year old widow with seven children who are between the ages of 16 and 32. She sells fabric and sewing accessories at the central market in Kinshasa. She has been active in her business since 1996.

Since her husband passed away in 2000, Georgine has been dedicated to her business. It is the only source of income she has to support her family. She joined a Hope DRC group called Rhema in January and has already received and successfully repaid two loans. The group consists of 29 members and thanks to Hope’s loans, the group members’ businesses have prospered.

Georgine plans to use this loan to generate more profit by purchasing items of good quality that are needed by her clients. Other Rhema members would use this loan to meet their clients’ needs and improve their business facilities in order to generate more profit to support their families.

Georgine’s business evolution from November 2008 through today

Entrepreneur: Rhema Group
Location: Kinshasa, The Democratic Republic of the Congo

Georgine sells fabric and sewing accessories at the Central Market in Kinshasa. Last November, she received a loan from Hope that she used to buy more high-quality accessories needed by her customers. She bought fabric, different kind of threads, zippers and sewing accessories for $300 to increase her stock. Currently, her working capital is $800. She works very hard to achieve goal of improving her business facility. Her business is growing in size and working capital.
