Tetmarina's Amazing Sewing Machin-a Entrepreneur: Mrs. Tetmarina Uk Gorup Group Location: Yok Bath Village, Cambodia Hi Kiva lenders, We went to visit Tetmarina Uk at her home yesterday (20th November 2008). It was an exciting and bumpy motor scooter ride to get there. You can even watch the video of the journey at the link below! This is a video I made for the Kiva Fellows blog and the house that we arrive at at the end is Tetmarina's. Phnom Penh to Tetmarina's house in 5 minutes Tetmarina was doing great. Although the loan was only disbursed in October, with her portion of the $750 group loan she has already bought two new sewing machines. These cost 600,000 Cambodian Reals each (about $150). She had to top up the loan with some money she already had saved. With the new sewing machines she makes shirts to sell at the market. She also does mini apprenticeships with local children to teach them how to use the sewing machines. She has 6 children, 3 of which are in school, 1 who works for a hotel, and 1 for a mobile phone company. Her only daughter is married and is a fishmonger. I took some great photos of Tetmarina and her sewing machines but unfortunately my camera memory card corrupted and I lost all the photos, so you'll just have to imagine the how it would have looked! But I've attached a photo of her frowning over her photo on her Kiva page. The two people on the right are Sophany, a credit officer for AMK, and Sopanith, the Kiva Coordinator for AMK (and my translator).
